I remember the guys at the 21st Replacement Center telling me I was being sent to a place in the clouds, and that Sunshine had to be pumped-in. They were right. Only spent 5 months here and was transferred to Fulda. Great time at both stations.

Still love the guestbook , it gives you a chance to find old friends , you have lost contact with. It's just to bad that people think they have to use this for advertising and other stupid entrys.I was in Wildflecken in April, it is so sad to see how dead that place has become. A specialy when you grew up there and know how busy Wildflecken used to be. We are looking for anybody from the 536th MP Company during 92-94. Seli ,Bushfield, Leasure etc. Let us here from you.

Comment

Well, hello to all of you who were apart of the military in the land of the "Best Kept Secret." I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

I served as Military Police in the HHB 3/52 ADA for 38 months (86 - 89).

Those of you who knew me then, knew about my band Vision. We played around in that area. We even played in the first couple of the "Battle of the Bands" there at the Recreation Center where we rehearsed. Anyway, if you do remember us you'll probably remember we wrote our own material.

One of the songs we wrote was a song called "Prisoner of the Hill." It's dedicated to everyone who served in Wildflecken. You can listen to it by visiting this website: http://www.garageband.com/artist/lenjennings7LB

Now, you'll need to copy and paste that into your browser to get there. And just as an FYI, the name of the band changed to 7 League Boots. Listen to 7 League Boots' podcast and you'll be able to hear all those songs from back in the day plus a few we wrote later on.

BTW, that recording is comprised of all the guys who were in Vision with me there in Germany. We reunited in Texas in 1995 and recorded the CD in 1997, releasing it in 1998. It features Tom Brubaker on guitars, Larry White on bass and backing vocals, Aaron Haines on drums and yours truly on lead vocals.

The band can also be heard on MySpace.Com. Just do a band search for 7 League Boots. Cool? Hope you enjoy.

Take Care & God Bless,

Len Jennings

This is my annual signing in for 2005!

I have returned to the USA and have been working at Ft. Gordon as Chief of marketing - I have to say I absolutely loathed the job (a first in my career) after my first month there (oh how we suffer fools these days - no one seems to be having any fun!)soooo, I decided to retire - which I did the 26th of October 2005 but the wunderlust got to me and I have applied for a couple of jobs in Europe - You'll be the first to know if I get either of them!

If I don't, I guess I'll have to be content here with my 3 cats, Merlin, Nubia and Loki and my long time Honey, William writing fantasy books about sex and dragons and sex and demons and damsels in distress and sex and hero's and sex...

It is so hot here in Augusta that the paint melts off your car in the summer - OK, a slight exaggeration...but close...no seasons, no good restaurants,no fests(that are any fun!),only golf and all of you know how I feel about golf...and everyone in the USA takes themselves way to seriously.

The "old" army was a gas...so were the soldiers and family memembers that it was my privilege to serve - even when they were rioting during our Rocky Horror Picture Show Marathon, pissing in the halls (I loved it - the MP's would make them stand on thier heads with thier feet against the walls when they were particularly rowdy) and emptying the fire extinguishers in the ballroom...God love 'um all - I wouldn't take a million bucks for one day of Wildflecken! Loved my troops! They were the BEST!

If anyone out there remembers me or those fabulous times - drop me a line!

Hallo,

Jetzt weiß ich, was meinen Bruder 5 Tage in Wildflecken so alles erwartet ;-).

Schaut doch auch mal auf meiner Homepage vorbei! Dort könnt Ihr euch über das Wetter/Klima in Deutschland informieren.

Wilde Grüße nach Wildflecken ;-),

Stefan

I had the honor, and great pleasure, to be stationed at Wildflecken with my family. Never have we been to a better place, ever. The cooperation (zusammenarbeit) from all, esp the electricians and painters from DEH made it a great place to work. Eddie Fendert was my good friend and confidant to the very end. Birgit Gleiss, although she ran me into the ground, was, and still is my good friend. I miss all my German friends and colleagues. We would be back tomorrow if asked! If you should see this message, know that each and everyone of you has a place in my heart forever.

Hi all,

even if i not served in the US Army i would like to sign into this guestbook.

I'm german and lived in Bad Brückenau 1986 - 1994. from 1992 -1993 i served at the german military in Oberwildflecken. In that time and before i made a lot of friends with US citizens in different bars, disco (remember the former "Ghetto" in Römershag industry area?) and also in common trainings between german and u.s. military.

Even if i know that things will never be the same like in the past, and we have to be thankful for the end of the cold war, i would like to thank all of you for being part of me/ourselves.

We grow up with our american friends, we met them nearly everywhere and i think we liked them at all.

I would be pleased to get in contact with some of you, because i would like to know how your life is going on after Wildflecken. How did you feel when you quit your Service in Wildflecken/Germany.

It has been a great time, let us keep it in mind! I like thinking about my past in Wildflecken.

Bye for now, feel free to contact me,

Holger

My husband and I were stationed at Wildflicken from 1983-1985, we loved it. Our oldest child, Erin, was born in Germany. We were both assigned to the 108th Military Intelligence Battalion. We lived at #1 Fuslite Strasse, Haselbach. Please contact us if you wish, we would love to hear from other people who were at Wildflicken.

We were really suprised to see that US Forces moved out in 1994. We are planning to return to Germany in the future and plan on making a trip to Wildflicken. Just for information, my father SGT Harold Gerber, trained at Wildflicken in the early 1950's with a air defense unit.

Found this great site during research for my own private website (see above link). It's dedicated to the American, French and British forces stationed in Berlin from 1945 to 1994.
I guess a lot of American Berlin veterans went to Wildflecken, too.

Wildflecken, Kreuzberg, Wasserkuppe, Riedenberg, Bad Brueckenau, Wuerzburg... so many memories. I worked with Franz up at the unit supply shop the first Summer. The second Summer I sold pizzas, and beer at the AAFES pizzeria, and drove the little Cushman freezer cart around the post selling ice cream to all the GI's working in the motorpools and elsewhere. I traveled around otherwise and made a lot of German friends in Riedenberg. I graduated from Wuerzburg American High School in 1978. Wildflecken was a lot of fun for a young guy with no agenda. I remember a lot of things from Germany...some important and others not so important (KG-SX 28). :-) God bless you all!

To all the guys I went through training with at Ft. Leonardwood B35th
and the ones that went to Wildflecken as a cohort platoon give me a shout. Check out my guest book on my home page and sign it, and, I'll get back to you. To all the other guys in Dco. and HHC don't be a stranger. We had some really good times and some really, really long, hard, cold, and sleepless times.

Look forward to hearing from you.

David loved it and hated it just like all the rest. But speakes of it often mostly of the good. Althought he went over by himself he later came home and married.. I joined him in Aug 84 (thank god for Wanda & Tim Perry).. Just married and barely 18 this was a adventure oh but a good one, wouldnt change a thing (ok maybe have him there with me to share more of the country) I will always remember the day I came on base and thought what am I doing in a place like this.
This site is very COOL went through each an every sign in.Even found someone right here in our home town that was there a few yrs before us... Again GREAT site thank you for the effort put into it really enjoyed all input.. If anyone remembers us then drop us a line would be GREAT to hear from any or all....

I have been back to Wildflecken several times since being assigned there. I worked for the Army as a civilian in Kaiserslautern and Heidelberg from 1985 to 1999. My wife has family in Bad Neustadt and I always went to the Rod and Gun Club to visit Hubert Schrum (Mgr). The last time was after it was turned over to the Bundeswehr in 1998. The post looked terrible on the last visit - it had not been maintained. I have great memories of my tours at Wildflecken and fishing in the Dollbach Stream.

I was a 16 year old bride from New Jersey when we were stationed at Wildflecken. We lived off base in Volkers, but had many a good night and a good meal in the area around the base, at the Waffenkammer in Oberbach, and the Ratskeller in downtown Wildflecken. Gersfeld was a partying place at the time too. Our last name at the time was Pharo, my nickname was Dela, and my husband's was Bucky. It's been a long time since the days at Wildflecken (Wild Chicken), and a lot of things have changed. I was sad to hear that the post had closed. I didn't live on the post, My husband and I lived in Kershfield. We had some great friends that we hung out with at the NCO club, and we really enjoyed the monisterry. We won first prize for best outfit at the fifties dance at the NCO Club. We saw many a good movie there also, and not to mention the Bingo time. I was really ready to come home when we left because I missed my family. We had our short timers calendar, and was counting down the days, but yet I felt like I left behind a good friend. And I guess we really did, a lot of them. I still have my letter of Appreciation from CPT, CE John C. Hetzel, Jr. (GO ALPHA GATORS). And I remember all the snow, and my birthday party at a near by lake, and all the sights we saw while there. It would take a lot to mention every thing, and I feel like if you where there you know what I am talking about. Well I best go, but want to tell every one that remembers me, hello and drop me a line, and I hope it was a good memory. Thanks for the memories. sincerly Robin Keeney

We lived in Roemershag when my dad was assigned to Korea. We lived with relatives of my mother. I went to school in Wildflecken.

From reading the posts it appears that no one knows that Shaquielle O'Neal the famous basketball player also was an army brat who went to school on Wildflecken. His dad was a Sargent. Shaq actually mentioned Wildflecken in an interview once.

I last posted here about two years ago. Have gotten a few e-mails from names I had forgotten. Brought a smile to my face.
I was company clerk and then Training NCO for B Co. 2/15 and worked at the Rod and Gun Club at night and weekends. Bryan Negrey, if you are still out there and alive, get in touch again. Has been 2 years since we talked.

I will be bringing my son to Germany in 2006 after he graduates from High School and will of course have to go to the Kreutzberg.

If you read this and remember me, please give a shout.

My wife and I had alot of fun our first few years of marriage there and often revert back to "if we made it there, we can make it anywhere". We did nearly ten years in, Loved it, I miss it....I miss the bonds that were built through the theory Sgt. Vaughn had of "he who suffer's together, stays together..." this man was wiser than I ever gave him credit and I modeled alot after what he taught me, not just him but all the member's of "The Family Squad"....you know who you are. My first duty assignment in the Army. I was assigned as a Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR) Platoon Leader, then XO with the 108th. Great memories. I was single and lived in Bischofsheim (Tennis Platz)-- landlord was Herr Walter who owned the SPORTS WALTER in town. GReat guy. I miss the scenery and snowy winters. I remember many ranges that were fogged in... those warm up huts came in handy. Would love to revisit the post someday, tour the museum. I am in my 16th year on active Duty and would like one more chance to live in Germany before 2010. I am currently with 10th MTN DIV, 4th UA at Fort Polk, LA (just switched over from 2d ACR). Just found this sight. Think it's great. Hope to hear from someone who remembers me.

Worked in BN S-4 at the end.

I've had my adventures since then. Worked Security. Was Border Patrol. Been a Licensed US Customs Broker since '97. Opened my own Customs Brokerage Company then closed it.

(For those who don't know what that is. I don't work for Customs. I work in the private sector. Basically, I kind of act as an Importer's or Exporter's Attorney with US Customs.)

All the merchandise you find in the stores that say "MADE IN " another country except the U.S. Customs Broker help the Importers to clear their merchandise through US Customs.

I work for a company called Stonepath Logistics.

I'll be signing in again later and writing more.

To all of my buddies from the "Rock" who worked on the "Tac Site", Blazing Skies! If it flies it dies! Reading through all of the previous posts brought back a lot of good memories. Like a lot of you, I thought those were some of the best days in the army. You couldn't beat the beer from the Monastery, the snitzells from the Cantina or the late night calzones from the pizza shop. I remember the guys and gals I worked with on the hill. People like my boys Bogard, Blyth, Strandlie, Champman, Armstrong, Lowman (lowdog), Brown, Sgt Hathaway, Sgt Cox and Sgt Camacho. Man we had some good times. The work was incredibly hard, but the camaraderie and life lessons were well worth it. We traveled to Greece to fire a Hawk missle. We traveled to Munich to the military resort to go skiing. We kicked ass during "Reforger." I had a great time and lots of wonderful memories.

Arrived as a brand new E-2 during an "Alert" with everyone running around with gas masks and M-16's, and was wondering what I got myself into. Started out as a mechanic in the diesel truck repair shop working for Sgt. Lipscomb. Ended up an acting Sgt. working in the "Inspection Section" with Sgt. Whetstine and another fella whose name I've forgotten. Wife and I lived in a one room Apt. in Oberbach and used to have the guys over for BBQ's in the summer and used to stop by the barracks in our beat up cars to get some of the fella's off the rock on the weekends. The names I remember are: Wootson, Price, Jimmy Slaughter, Galegos, Richard Scott, Sgt. Lipscomb, Joanne and Dave Espey, Mark and Becky Tomeck, Dave Smerick and his wife, Sgt. Snedicker? Rex Morgan and lots of other faces that I can't put names to right now.

Stationed At Wasserkuppe during this period, but had quarters on the post at Wildflecken. I think the quarters was Bldg 54B.

Long time ago.
